Marcello Palazzo is a conductor, composer, pianist and singer of Italian origin. He has had a lot of experience conducting student ensembles and during his undergrad conducted the principal symphony orchestra at Durham University for two years, the Chamber Choir and Concert Opera societies. Amongst others, Marcello has received tuition from Timothy Burke, Peter Stark, Jac van Steen, Paul Murphy and currently studies with Jessica Cottis. He was also recently invited to take part in a masterclass with the Oxford Philharmonic orchestra and Marios Papadopoulos in February 2022. Marcello is studying for an MSt in Composition at New College, Oxford, and has written for groups such as Trio Anima, the BBC Singers, the Castalian Quartet – who will perform his string quartet, Hive, in May 2022 – and soloists including Sir Thomas Allen. Marcello is thrilled to be the next conductor for OUPhil and is very much looking forward to working on exciting projects with the orchestra in the coming year.
